About Rachel

I take photographs of families, just as they are. No posing, colour co-ordinating outfits or best behaviour necessary. I’ve been photographing my own family for the last six years and what I’ve realised is this: the most beautiful, heartfelt photographs are the ones that are true. The reflections in the wet sand, the dramatic expression at just the right moment, the way the light moves around your home. There’s magic in these everyday moments, and I’m here to capture it.

I live with my husband and two boys on the edge of the Lake District in Cumbria. Originally from the Northumberland Coast, I’m just as likely to be found on the beach as by the lakes. Water is my happy place. At home I’m usually planning our next family day out - I’m told I’m great for recommendations! And when I’m not plotting an adventure, I’m just as happy hanging out with my boys watching Wallace & Gromit.

With a previous career in visitor experience, I’ve spent the last twenty years making sure families have a great time - and I’m not about to stop now! Your family are fabulous just as they are, that’s why you don’t do posing, style advice, or being told what to do. Luckily my family isn’t into that either (just ask my kids) and that’s why I love photographing families who enjoy just having fun together, whether it’s at home or on a day out.
