My Story
I recently moved to Carlsbad, California, with my daughter, husband, and cuddly rescue dog, and I’m excited to now call North County San Diego home. Before moving here, we lived in Tucson after spending a couple of years in Portugal. We love National Parks, visiting family in Germany, and really, traveling just about anywhere! During all that travel, I’ve been known to subject my kid to Oprah Super Soul and Brené Brown podcasts in the car. She is decidedly not a fan, but I’m hoping some of the wisdom is seeping in anyway.
I also love art, of course. It’s in my blood. I come from a long line of artists, have a BFA and an MA in Art Education, and spent years teaching art and photography and mentoring teachers. So I don’t scare easily when it comes to kids’ behavior. I’ve seen it all. There’s no need to get your kids to do anything in particular for me—they can be their silly, energetic, messy selves.
I started my photography business in 2005 photographing weddings and family portraits. Today, I focus on documentary family photography because I get to photograph families exactly as they are. It’s genuine, meaningful, and wonderfully imperfect. Unposed, unmatched, house uncleaned—real life and authentic moments.
That’s my story. What’s yours? Let’s tell it together through photographs.
