I am a Documentary photographer based in Los Angeles, California. I am Pisces, ESFP in Myers Briggs, 7 on the Enneagram and any other box you want to put me in. (This is starting to sound like my JSwipe profile). I come from a large ortodox family of 10. In my free time, I like to go out, photograph and work on this website which is taking forever to finish!! I love karaoke, dancing and exploring new places. When I don’t have a photography session booked, I am photographing the drunk singers at the karaoke bar. I’ve got Chutzpah, spunk and I am super fun to be around.
How it started:
I was studying painting, sculpture and design at SUNY Purchase college. I told myself I wouldn’t take a photography class since 3 of my siblings are full-time photographers and I refuse to conform. Ironically, I would take the train to Brooklyn and use my iphone to document the orthodox Jewish community of Brooklyn. I specifically loved focusing on the Hasidic community since it felt like home. In my last year of school, I realized I have the eye for deeply SEEING. It would be a disservice to the world to NOT do what I was born to do.
I love photographing people. Especially the marginalized groups, culture, race, religion and any other denomination that is hidden or repressed from the world. I know what it’s like to be hidden away and I find it so healing to listen and hold space for other people.
When it came to street photography, I soon realized that fast-paced and impulsive photographs aren't fulfilling. I need more time to consciously create a composition and get to know the person. I found documentary family photography to be the perfect home for me. I love family life and especially kids. I love the humor and I especially love their capacity to feel every possible emotion in one 24 hour period.
If I could photograph families for the rest of my life, I would be fully content. I look forward to the day when I will travel to various countries and document families of the world.
Enough about me. Tell me about you.
