Over years working in education projects in Asia, I wandered the villages, markets, alleyways and riverbanks, camera in hand, observing and recording worlds of colour and chaos and laughter and beauty.
The ordinary was truly extraordinary.
However, while visiting my family in New Zealand some years ago, I realized that the same vision was relevant at home in the everyday life of families. The world over, we all share the same needs, the same anguish, the same joys. Like any social document it is the 'decisive moment' that reveals this human universality in a single, powerful image. This photographic search to reveal our humanity and connection is what I do.
