About Michaela

I’m a South London-based documentary family and newborn photographer and also a mum of two girls who are growing up way too fast!

I came to photography after my second child came along, and as I've developed as a photographer, I've come to realise the importance of capturing life authentically.

When I look back at the photographs I’ve created, it’s the ones that bottle up ‘real life’ moments and details that stir up the most poignant memories for me.

Family life isn’t perfect - it’s often messy and chaotic and certainly not reflected in the posed and pristine family portraits we see all over social media. I’m drawn to capturing the beauty of ‘real’ family life - happiness, love and joy but also the the moments in between. I want to send families the message that they are perfect just the way they are.

Documentary family photography is about letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be, and celebrating who we really are. It’s about honestly documenting relationships, personalities, interactions, and everyday routines and rituals. It’s about creating meaningful photographs reflecting the beauty of our everyday, and this is what I aim to do whenever I pick up my camera.
