I want to photograph families exactly as they are. Without pretending, without pre-planned poses, without forced smiles. Ideally right in the middle of the beautiful chaos of everyday life. Why do I believe this is the right way to photograph? I’m a mother of two. And a few years ago, I was absolutely convinced that I would never forget—let alone miss—that intense period when I didn’t have time to go to the bathroom, wash my hair, tidy up, eat, drink, or even breathe. But the truth is different. So much of what once felt like our everyday (our forever?) with a thousand tasks has simply slipped away. What I did photograph, though, became the little fragments that turned our chaos into our story. That’s what I look for in photos, and that, I believe, is what you will be looking for years from now too.
